In April 2002 I was the project manager of the Beacon being built at Crich Stand to celebrate the Queens Golden Jubilee.

At the time I was on the Parish Council who funded the project which cost just over £6000. In these webpages you can see the full story of the Beacon being built from the making of the former and filling with concrete to putting the fire basket in place . The builders were Barry Smales Cresswell and his father, and also Billy who lives in Crich.

The whole project only took about 5 weeks to build , but obtaining the planning permision from Amber Valley Borough Council took much longer. Click on the green Beacon Builder above to enter site

Easter Weekend Part 2

The weather has been very kind to Crich Tramway Village's 40's Weekend over Easter 2007. Above you can see re-enacters Mr & Mrs Barry Grieves & Mr & Mrs Tideswell in front of Mr Tideswell's immaculate Morris 12.The re-enacters stayed on Standcliffe House Certificated Location in there Caravans. Luckily the weather forecast is for an excellent weekend, which makes a difference because most Easter Bank Holidays turn out cold and wet. The next event taking place at Crich tramway village is the Morris Minor Day on April 22nd 2007

The Caravan site is full with many hopefull people even ringing up at this late stage to see if there are any vacancies or cancellations. Bank Holidays are usually booked up months in advance, but there are plenty of other weekends to visit Crich.

Crich Blog News and Views about the village of Crich

This blog has been set up to give everyone (Both locals and Visitors) the chance to comment on day to day things that are happening in the Village of Crich in Derbyshire U.K.
Simple things such as the new owners of Crich Fish and Chip shop produce a superb product and come highly recommended.

Also the Tea Shop up at Town End which has recently changed owners are open Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday 10am - 5pm and have now started a Bistro Night usually themed .
